CoLRiC BEACON AWARD.  We are delighted to announce that the winner of this year’s CoLRiC Beacon Award for the ‘Effective Integration of Libraries/Learning Resources Centres in Curriculum Delivery’ is Northern College.

This prestigious award aims to promote and encourage good practice and high standards in libraries/learning resources centres in colleges and to enhance their potential as areas that contribute to the delivery of the college’s curriculum.  The competition this year was very strong, but Northern College came away with the accolade.

CoLRiC SUBSCRIPTION RATES increased slightly in January 2008, so that we can continue with all the services we feel we need to provide.  Full information is given on the Membership page.

CoLRiC GUIDELINES FOR SELF-ASSESSMENT. These Guidelines take the Common Inspection Framework as the starting point, and enables Learning Resources Managers to see the relationship between it and their own service. It is available to members only. It can be viewed in the member's area. Click here

PERFORMANCE AND IMPACT INDICATORS. The survey, first carried out in 2003, was repeated again in 2007.  The findings can be viewed in Performance Indicators Survey Results in the member's area: click here.  The 2008 survey will be carried out later in the year. More information on the scheme.

CoLRiC INFORMATION AND DISCUSSION FORUM ON JISCMAIL. Members of CoLRiC are automatically registered on our information and discussion forum, where everything posted to the forum is circulated to all members. If you think you are not registered (because you never receive anything from the forum) please contact us.

PEER ACCREDITATION & CERTIFICATION. Thirty assessment and accreditation visits to colleges have been made, most of which have led to awards and certificates for their services. The heads of the successful services can be approached if you would like to know more about the process from the recipient's point of view.

QUALITY ASSURANCE FOR LEARNING RESOURCES SERVICES is a set of CoLRiC guidelines to help you improve the quality of your service, looking briefly at all aspects of quality assurance. It is available free to members only. and available in the member's area.

LEARNING RESOURCES AND ITS INVOLVEMENT IN THE COLLEGE CURRICULUM. A policy document from CoLRiC on the involvement of college libraries and learning resources services in the college curriculum is now available free to members only. It is particularly useful if you are considering applying for our Beacon Award. To view it, go to our member's area.

LOBBYING. The initial thrust of our Lobbying project has come to a close. The whole project was particularly successful when we went to see Members of Parliament. We saw one from each party: the Liberal Democrat and Labour Members were particularly supportive, approaching the Chief Inspectors of Ofsted and ALI on our behalf, and devising Parliamentary Questions that were asked and answered.
