About CoLRiC
CoLRiC was founded in 1993 and has since produced a number of very successful initiatives that help raise the quality of learning resources services in colleges. These include the CoLRiC peer accreditation scheme and the CoLRiC Beacon Award. Membership has grown to over 250 college learning resources services throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, and it continues to grow.
Our work
- Accreditation and certification of college learning resources services and libraries.
- Giving a Beacon Award to encourage innovation and excellence..
- Providing networking opportunities for Learning Resources Managers including running a Jiscmail forum, a members forum on our website and an annual conference.
- Running the annual Performance Impact Indicators Survey with a view to find benchmarks for learning resources in colleges which prove useful for comparison and planning
- Electing an Executive Committee from the membership of CoLRiC, who plan and implement future developments and initiatives.
- Providing these Internet pages and publishing a Newsletter four times a year to keep members in touch with developments.
- Having an Annual Meeting of Council each year, where all members can contribute directly to the future of CoLRiC.
What have we achieved?
- We operate a self assessment and peer accreditation scheme for college learning resources services, which contribute to accreditation profiles of colleges.
- We sponsor a Beacon Award every two years to encourage innovation and excellence, on the integration of libraries/learning resources centres in curriculum delivery.
- We provide benchmarks for learning resources in colleges which prove useful for comparison and planning with the data from the annual performance impact indicators survey
- We have worked closely with CoFHE to produce the self assessment toolkit for learning resources in colleges.
